FESTIVITIES BEGIN TO UNFOLD AT ANN NORTON SCULPTURE GARDENS, Designers Unveil Themes for Fourth Annual Festival of Trees

WEST PALM BEACH (November 24, 2010)It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens with area designers gathering décor and announcing their artistic themes for the fourth annual Festival of Trees. Designers will be on-site decorating trees November 30th through December 2 in preparation for the Les Artistes themed event; which commences with its annual gala Friday December 3 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. and continues throughout the weekend and then daily beginning Wednesday, December 8 through Sunday, December 12 from 5:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Various businesses, civic groups and individuals have individually underwritten over 30 trees with a universal theme of Les Artistes. Mentionable favorites include: Cynthia Thomas and Tom Mathieu who are bringing a new kind of tree to the Gardens for Susan and James Patterson, Wayne Thiebaud for his noted confection in art inspired tree which promises to be a favorite for children, the Martin Johnson Heade tree, by Scott Robertson Interiors Inc, inspired by Heade’s use of exotic flowers and tropical vistas that speak of a nostalgic Victorian past, and a Picasso inspired tree, by Home Life Interiors utilizing the abstract use of color and imagery as well as the musical instruments depicted in many of his works. Garrigues Interiors is working on two trees, the first, a Henri Matisse inspired tree, utilizing bold colors and large scale shapes representing Matisse’s mastery of the expressive language of color and drawing and a garland which will incorporate his famous “Dance” figures frolicking around the tree, topped with Matisse’s famous Icarus from the Jazz series. Their Paul Gauguin tree is inspired by Gauguin’s flight from civilization, in search of a more real and sincere life. By covering their tree with large palm fronds, colorful flowers and seashells; Garrigues Interiors will incorporate Gauguin’s fascination of the Tahitian life and culture.

Saks Fifth Avenue Palm Beach has an interesting challenge in bringing the art of the Highway Men to life for John and Eileen Otto who has one of the largest collections of Highway Men and Louis Nelveson is the inspiration for the Palm Beach Post Tree. Design Chair, Joseph Pubillones has created an eight-foot, three-dimensional assemblage tree for the event and Chad Renfro is busy getting ready by creating a Warhol inspired tree for the Rodriquez and Wickman Families of Wellington. Jack Phillips’ designed tree is rumored to buy out every flower in the area to create a tree based on the botanical artist Pierre-Joseph Redoute, and Bruce Sutka will be basing his tree on Salvador Dali for Joy of Palm Beach.

Erte will be a goddess in green and faux fur for Dr. Howard and Joanne Lybolt as seen by Austin Hancock, their designer and Edward and Meredith Michener will have “Le Grand Cirque” by Alexander Calder for the theme of their tree with the Executive Director of the Ann Norton Sculpture Garden, Cynthia Palmieri taking on the theme for the event. Florida Crystals has underwritten a tree be done in collaboration with the students of Glades Academy utilizing Romare Bearden’s jazz inspired landscapes which will be the focus of the tree using primary colors to bring it to life. Vincent Van Gogh was the chosen themed artist for the 3rd Grade Class at Rosarian Academy underwritten by Mieke van Waveren & Family and one of this year’s Co-Chairs.

“For the first time we have exceeded our goal of presenting 25 trees”, said Cynthia Palmieri, Executive Director of the Ann Norton Sculpture Garden. “With 32 trees this year, we have an array of contemporary, traditional, abstract, and pop art represented. There will be more than a few surprises and promise that the Festival of Trees will continue to be a magical experience for the young and the young at heart.”

The Design Chair for the Festival of trees is Joseph Pubillones and decorators include Rodger Chew II, Kevin Clark, Joseph Cortez, Mona de Sayve, Susan Fagan, Jack Fhillips, Jenny Garrigues, Austin Hancock, Patrick Killian, Isolde Koester, Lauri LaBow, Debora Maaale, Kevin Marnell, Jennifer Marsh, Tom Mathieu, Stephen Mooney, Cynthia Palmieri, Margaret Poetz, Chad Renfro, Allan Reyes, Angela Reynolds, Scott Robertson, Saks Fifth Avenue Palm Beach, Melody Smith, Catherine Stewart, Bruce Sutka, Holly Taboada, Cynthia Thomas, and Veronica Volani-Inza.

PALM BEACH COLLABORATION UNVEILS SPECIAL EDITION HERA NECKLACE BY JORDANN-LAVANDE

PALM BEACH COLLABORATION UNVEILS SPECIAL EDITION HERA NECKLACE

BY JORDANN-LAVANDE

PALM BEACH (November 8, 2010) — The unveiling of a new jewelry design available in time for the holidays called the HERA NECKLACE has just been announced through a collaborative effort between Tracy Smith of House of Lavande and Jordann Weingartner of Jordann Jewelry.

The collaboration came about when the two Palm Beach businesswomen with a niche in the jewelry industry started talking about their respective businesses and their passion for jewelry. The discussion lead to a sketch on a cocktail napkin and then morphed into a brainstorm on how the two could collaborate by incorporating both their iconic pieces - Jordann’s magnolia and House of Lavande’s lockets; which have become one of Tracy’s signature pieces in 2010. “One meeting later, we worked out the details on how and where to have the necklace made and it’s been a mad-dash ever since,” says Smith.

The name of the necklace is derived from Greek Mythology’s Hera, the goddess of women and marriage and was given its name after designing a part of the necklace from a House of Lavande vintage locket that had etchings of peacock feathers and incorporated 12 amethysts. The peacock and the ‘eyes’, which are symbolized in the stones, represent Hera’s watchfulness. The bird was a sacred symbol of Hera and is often associated with summer, the mature woman, and the mother phase. The naming of the necklace was the hardest part,” said Weingartner. “While researching names, we brainstormed on what the magnolia and the peacock symbol represent and mean to us as individuals, mothers, and strong independent women. Hera became the obvious choice.” An additional mantra shared by the Tracy and Jordann are the words inscribed on the back of the magnolia which read: “Embrace Your Dignity, PersevereProtect, Love and Nurture Your True Beauty.”

The locket can also be engraved with initials or a date as well as having the space to encapsulate a photo. “We hope that the combination of an art deco magnolia and a vintage inspired locket will become an heirloom piece for its owners who may pass it down to their children and grandchildren. Like our vintage pieces, we hope that the Hera necklace will create its own legacy,” says Smith. The necklace is a special edition piece and is available in both sterling silver and 14 karat gold vermeil for $450.00 at the House of Lavande located at 340 Royal Poinciana Way, suite 332, Palm Beach, Florida 33480 or by visiting the web at either www.houseoflavande.com or www.jordannjewelry.com. Orders my also be obtained by calling the House of Lavande at 561-802-3737.

The story of Papo...

It all began fourteen years ago when Catherine Monteiro de Barros was living in Lisbon with her Portuguese husband and their two small daughters. Catherine realized that American mothers who wanted beautiful, European-style clothing for their children had almost no options. She decided to design a line of innovative classics that could be handed down from one generation to the next.

Catherine’s incredible taste and talent for selecting fabrics has made Papo d’Anjo a favorite among discerning mothers. What began primarily as a Trunk Show business is now a much larger enterprise with a store in Lisbon, in-store boutiques in European and department stores, a catalog and website. Papo d’Anjo clothes are also available at select children’s boutiques and specialty stores across the world.

With this continued growth, Papo d'Anjo remains dedicated to maintaining the same level of excellence and attention to detail. We prize quality workmanship, fresh design and the kind of remarkable customer service that is increasingly rare in todays marketplace.

Papo d'Anjo's headquarters are located in the heart of Lisbon, Portugal in the historic district known as the Chiado. All design and production planning takes place there, on the top floor of an 18th century building overlooking the Tagus river and six of Lisbon's storied hills.

About the Founder

Catherine Monteiro de Barros is a mother of four. The daughter of an American father and a Norwegian mother, she grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from Georgetown University. After receiving an MA in International Relations at Johns Hopkins University, she worked as Associate Producer of World Report at CNN until she married and moved to Portugal in 1991.

Catherine founded Papo d’Anjo in 1995 (see About Papo d’Anjo) and remained in Portugal until March of 2002 when she and her family moved to Gloucestershire, England.

Today Catherine travels between England and Portugal monthly to oversee all aspects of the business. While she is the company's sole designer and chief decision maker, she relies upon very dedicated, talented and loyal employees in Portugal and the United States without whom Papo d’Anjo would not be what it is today.

Papo d' Anjo Hits the Headlines

PAPO D’ANJO HITS THE HEADLINES

Keirnan Shipka wears Papo d’Anjo Bespoke at the Emmys, August 2010

2010 is fast becoming one of the most exciting years at Papo d’Anjo. We started the year with a great piece in Vanity Fair, which coincided with our arrival as the anchor brand in the new Bergdorf Goodman children’s department. Since then Papo has been in many publications on both sides of the Atlantic, most notably the July issue of US Vogue, and UK Brides & Tatler.

Jennifer Garner’s daughters were spotted wearing our swimwear, in US magazine, and European royalty are also dressing their children and grandchildren in Papo d’Anjo. The Duchess of Cornwall is a big fan, and little princes and princesses in the Netherlands have also been seen in Papo d’Anjo clothes.

We are very excited to announce that Papo d’Anjo has been asked to dress Mad Men’s Kiernan Shipka (a.k.a Sally Draper) for her public appearances and red carpet events. All our customers who are struggling to get their older daughters into Papo d’Anjo will be delighted to hear that Kiernan is herself a huge fan of Papo d’Anjo, and has been wearing our clothes at various events this summer. Catherine Monteiro de Barros designed the embroidered organza dress she wore to the Emmys in August and the response has been incredible. Commentators described it as “beautiful”, “adorable” and “perfection” – and noted that it was a relief to see a child dressed age appropriately. Kiernan also attended the Bafta TV Tea in a Blue Batik dress from the new Summer Trunk Show collection.

US VOGUE, JULY 2010

In Interview magazine, Kiernan says “Papo d’Anjo is probably my favourite – they have some amazing dresses for kids my age”. Most recently, she was on Good Morning LA wearing our Hot Pink Chiffon dress from this summer, and also

photographed for the LA Times in the same outfit.

We are delighted to have such a beautiful supporter of the brand.

Papo d'Anjo Goes to the Emmy's

Papo d'Anjo Goes to The Emmy's

It was very exciting for the entire Papo d’Anjo team to watch The Emmy Awards and see actress Kiernan Shipka, who plays Sally Draper in the hit show “Mad Men,” wearing a dress from the bespoke collection. The floral patterned organza fabric is elegant but also innocent and Kiernan looked stunning in the dress. I am thrilled to be hosting the Spring/Summer 2011 collection in early October. If you'd like more information, please email me at linda@lindalanemarketing.com or call 561-835-9057. Two things that I adore...Mad Men and Papo d'Anjo!!!

The day before the awards, Kiernan also wore Papo d’Anjo to the British Academy of Television Arts/Los Angeles Emmy TV Tea Party. The batik patterned dress is one of my favorites from our upcoming Spring/Summer 2011 trunk shows and I was delighted when Kiernan chose it for the party.

JUSTASKBOO!

On a daily basis, I seem to be emailing friends asking for sources helpful to my children, dog, home, husband and yes, even me. Then I found the best resource ever. Her name is Boo Zamek, and this is her story in press release form....

Miami-Based JustAskBoo Launches in Palm Beach County
Company Now Expanding Into New Markets Across Florida

Palm Beach, FL – (April 25, 2010) – JustAskBoo, the wildly popular E-Newsletter and the brain child of Province “Boo” Zamek, has now launched in Palm Beach County.

So what exactly is JustAskBoo? Zamek explains it best, “It’s an e-newsletter in which subscribers, or ‘JABBERS’, communicate between each other to share information. They ask each other for referrals, recommendations, and other sourcing information – even personal things like medical advice and feedback on schools. JustAskBoo also advertises businesses and promotes special events, non-profits and more. Says Zamek, “When someone wants to post something, they simply email our editor, who puts the post on our free e-newsletter. All postings require a first and last name, which helps build trust and credibility. Once the newsletter circulates, other subscribers reply directly to the poster. Then Team JAB records the responses into the online ‘Treasure Chest’ archives,” said Zamek.

In Palm Beach County, Ashley Schutz heads up the once-a-week e-Newsletter. A Miami native, Ashley is a veteran communications professional who formerly managed marketing for Regions Bank in South Florida. “For years, I’ve been hearing from my Miami friends what an asset JustAskBoo is. So when Boo approached me to help her expand into Palm Beach County, I jumped at the opportunity. It’s a valuable resource that not only provides great benefit to subscribers, but gives advertisers exposure to a coveted, hard-to-reach demographic. ”

The JustAskBoo newsletter has become extremely popular simply because it is useful. “People always need something and JustAskBoo offers a safe, easy and fun way to find it,” says Zamek. Subscribers also enjoy helping each other by responding to postings. “It’s wonderful to see how many postings have resulted in JABBERS coming to the rescue,” said Zamek. “People have located top-notch math tutors for children who are struggling, others have secured Miami Heat tickets for a group of foster children, some have coordinated the assembly of countless items for the Haiti earthquake relief effort, and some have even received sound medical advice when faced with illness. We have also seen JABBERS find a poodle skirt for a school play, locate a furniture refinisher to restore Grandma's credenza, share their favorite winery recommendations for a traveler headed to Napa Valley, and much, much more.”

Today, in Miami-Dade County JustAskBoo serves over 8,000 JABBERS, almost all of whom found the free e-newsletter service by word of mouth. JustAskBoo has been so successful in Miami that the newsletter is now in expansion mode. “We have been up and running in Broward County for several months,” said Zamek. “We are very proud to be expanding into Palm Beach County. Next is the Orlando market.”

Long-term, JustAskBoo hopes to be in major markets across the U.S., according to Zamek. “We have a lot of great plans on the horizon, but we’re trying to stay focused and enjoy the moment,” she said. “This is just the beginning – and it’s a very exciting time.”

JustAskBoo is a free e-newsletter (eJAB) which serves as a community bulletin for thousands of subscribers {JABBERS} throughout South Florida several days per week. JABBERS use the eJAB newsletter to exchange information between each other: referrals and recommendations, advice, announcements, special event information, personal or household items for sale, etc. For More Information, please contact Boo Zamek, President - (305) 984.1143/boo@justaskboo.com or Ashley Schutz, Editor - (561) 543-9290/ashley@justaskboo.com.
